Indications
- Treatment of pharyngitis/tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes

Pharmacology
- Broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against a wide range of common pathogens
- Good stability to bacterial beta-lactamase
- Active against many ampicillin-resistant and amoxicillin-resistant strains
Dosage
- Adolescents and adults dosage for various infections
- Paediatric patients dosage for various infections
- Dosage for parenteral administration in adults, children, neonates, pneumonia, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
Administration
- Use of freshly reconstituted solution recommended
- Potency maintenance for at least 24 hours at room temperature

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Cephalosporins
Side Effects
- Infrequent and generally mild and transient adverse effects
- Reported effects include rashes, gastrointestinal disturbances, and overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
Pregnancy & Lactation

- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Excretion in human milk, caution advised during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Care in patients receiving concurrent treatment with potent diuretics and with history of colitis
- Cephalosporin antibiotics may be safely given to patients hypersensitive to penicillin, cross reactions reported
