Well-characterized and effective antibacterial agent with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against a wide range of common pathogens

Tablet or Suspension:
- Different dosages for adolescents, adults, and pediatric patients based on infection type
- For adults: 250-500 mg b.i.d. for 5-14 days
- For pediatric patients: 20-30 mg/kg/day b.i.d. for 5-10 days
Parenteral:
- Dosage for adults, children, and neonates based on infection type
- In severe infections, dose can be increased
- Specific dosages for surgical prophylaxis, pneumonia, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, gonorrhoea, meningitis, and bone and joint infections

Freshly reconstituted solution is recommended; maintains potency for at least 24 hours at room temperature or 48 hours at 5°C

Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Cephalosporins

Adverse effects include rashes and gastrointestinal disturbances
Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms (e.g., Candida)

Pregnancy: Category B; should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed
Lactation: Excreted in human milk; caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman

Given with care to patients receiving concurrent treatment with potent diuretics
Patients with a history of colitis should receive with care
May be given safely to patients hypersensitive to penicillin with low risk of cross reactions
