Indications
- Community Acquired Pneumonia

Pharmacology
- Semisynthetic third generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic
- Broad spectrum bactericidal activity
- Inhibition of cell wall synthesis
- Activity against b-lactamase producing strains
Dosage & Administration
- Total daily dose of 600mg
- Dosage schedule for different infections
- Dosage for pediatric patients
- Direction for reconstitution of powder for suspension
Interaction
- Antacids should be taken at least 2 hours interval of Efdinir administration
- Iron supplement should be taken at least 2 hours interval of Efdinir administration
- Probencid inhibits the renal excretion of Efdinir
Contraindications
- Patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics

- Vaginal moniliasis
- Nausea & Vomiting

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category B
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Not detected in breast milk after administration of single 600mg doses
Precautions & Warnings
- Prescribed with caution in individuals with a history of colitis
- Prescribed with caution in patients with transient or persistent renal insufficiency

- Store at room temperature and protect from light
- Reconstituted suspension can be used within 7 days at room temperature
