Description
- Cefesta is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic with marked bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.

Indications
- Upper Respiratory Tract Infections
- Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
- Urinary Tract Infections
Bactericidal activity
- Wide spectrum of bactericidal activity
Absorption
- Approximately 40-50% absorption with or without food
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal action by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Stable in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
Recommended adult dosage
- 200-400 mg daily, as a single dose or in divided doses according to severity of infection
Recommended child dosage
- 8 mg/kg/day for children
- Specific daily doses for different age groups
Dosage for typhoid
- 5 mg/kg body weight twice daily for 10-14 days
Dosage adjustment renal impairment
- Dose should not exceed 200 mg once daily when creatinine clearance is less than 20 ml/min
