Marked in-vitro bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
Indicated for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) and lower respiratory tract infections
Clinical efficacy demonstrated in infections caused by commonly occurring pathogens
Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of gram positive and gram negative bacteria
Kills bacteria by interfering in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
High stability in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
Absorption of about 40% to 50% whether administered with or without food
Recommended dosage for adults, elderly, and children, including dosage in renal impairment
Increases in prothrombin times noted in a few patients, caution with anticoagulant therapy
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
Majority of adverse reactions observed in clinical trials were mild and self-limiting in nature
Caution in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to other drugs
Partial cross-allergenicity between penicillins and cephalosporins
Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed, caution during lactation
Gastric Lavage may be indicated in case of overdose, no specific antidote exists
