Indications
- Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of urinary tract infections
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal against broad spectrum of bacteria
- Interferes with synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- High stability in presence of beta-lactamase enzyme
Dosage and Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Recommended dosage for adults: 200-400 mg daily
- Recommended dosage for children: 8 mg/kg/day
Interaction
- Increases in prothrombin times
- Care with patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

- Frequent gastrointestinal disturbances
