Description
Orally active cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Used to treat infections of the upper respiratory tract, lower respiratory tract, and urinary tract caused by susceptible microorganisms.

Pharmacology
Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Interferes with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall.
Absorption
About 40% to 50%, not significantly modified by the presence of food
RecommendedDosage
- Adults: 200-400 mg daily
- Children over 10 years: Dose based on body weight
- Elderly: Same dose as recommended for adults with renal function assessment
- Children under 10 years and less than 50 kg: Dose based on body weight
- Renal Impairment: Dosage adjustment may be required
Interaction
Potential increase in prothrombin times in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
