- Microorganisms susceptible to Odacef include Streptococcus pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella species, Haemophilus influenzae
- Highly stable in the presence of beta-lactamase enzymes
ModeOfAction
- Interference in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
Absorption
- Absorption of Cefixime is about 40% to 50% whether administered with or without food
Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Recommended adult dosage is 200-400 mg daily
- Dosage for children is 8 mg/kg/day administered as a single dose or in two divided doses
