Description
- Ofex is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic with in-vitro bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. It is indicated for the treatment of acute infections such as Upper Respiratory Tract Infections, Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, and Urinary Tract Infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. The pharmacology of Cefixime involves interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall, making it bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria. The usual course of treatment is 7 days and may be continued for up to 14 days if required. The medicine is generally well tolerated with mild and self-limiting adverse reactions. It should be given with caution to patients with hypersensitivity to other drugs and penicillin-sensitive patients, and in patients with markedly impaired renal function. Storage conditions include keeping the medicine below 30°C temperature, protected from light and moisture.
