Pharmacology
- Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria
- Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
Dosage & Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Recommended adult dosage is 200-400 mg daily
- Recommended children dosage is 8 mg/kg/day
- Dosage adjustments required for elderly and patients with renal impairment
Interaction
- Increases in prothrombin times
- Caution in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

- Gastrointestinal disturbances including diarrhea and stool changes
