Indications

Bactericidal Activity
Marked in-vitro bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organism
Mode of Action
Interferes with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
Absorption of Cefixime
About 40% to 50% whether administered with or without food
Recommended Dosage for Adults
200-400 mg daily
Recommended Dosage for Children
8 mg/kg/day
Interaction with Anticoagulant Therapy
Increases in prothrombin times have been noted
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed

Precautions
- Should be given with caution to patients showing hypersensitivity to other drugs
- Administered with caution in patients with markedly impaired renal function

Gastric Lavage may be indicated; no specific antidote exists
