Indications
- Orally active cephalosporin antibiotic
- Bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
- Treatment for upper respiratory tract infections

Pharmacology
- Third generation semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic
- Bactericidal against broad spectrum of bacteria
- Interferes in synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- High stability in presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
- Absorption approximately 40-50%
- Absorption not significantly modified by food
Dosage & Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Recommended adult dosage 200-400 mg daily
- Dosage adjustments for renal impairment

Interaction
- Potential for increasing prothrombin times
