Indications

Pharmacology

  • Third generation semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic
  • Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria

Dosage And Administration

  • Usual course of treatment is 7 days, can be extended to 14 days if necessary
  • Adult dosage: 200-400 mg daily, adjusted as per severity of infection
  • Dosage for Elderly patients and Children
  • Dosage in Renal Impairment

Interaction

  • Increases in prothrombin times noted in some patients
  • Caution needed in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
