Pharmacology
- Third generation semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic
- Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria
- Interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis
Dosage And Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days, can be extended to 14 days if necessary
- Adult dosage: 200-400 mg daily, adjusted as per severity of infection
- Dosage for Elderly patients and Children
- Dosage in Renal Impairment
Interaction
- Increases in prothrombin times noted in some patients
- Caution needed in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy

- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
