Description

  • Orally active cephalosporin antibiotic
  • Bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
  • Treatment for Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI) like otitis media, and other known or suspected resistant infections
  • Treatment for Lower Respiratory Tract Infections like bronchitis
  • Treatment for Urinary Tract Infections including cystitis, cystourethritis, and pyelonephritis
  • Clinical efficacy against commonly occurring pathogens including Streptococcus pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, and others
  • High stability in the presence of beta-lactamase enzymes
  • Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
  • Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
  • High stability in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
  • Absorption of about 40% to 50% whether administered with or without food
  • Recommended adult dosage of 200-400 mg daily
  • Dosage adjustment for elderly and children
  • Usual course of treatment is 7 days, may be continued for up to 14 days if required
  • Increased prothrombin times noted in a few patients, caution in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
