Description
Suprax DS 400 mg Capsule is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. It is indicated for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. Cefixime, the active ingredient, interferes with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall and is highly stable in the presence of beta-lactamase enzymes. The usual course of treatment is 7 days and may be continued for up to 14 days if required. It is generally well tolerated, with gastrointestinal disturbances being the most frequent side effects.
