Indications
- Treatment of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections
- Treatment of Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
- Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections

Pharmacology
- Third generation semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic
- Bactericidal against broad spectrum of bacteria
- Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- High stability in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
- Approximately 40-50% absorption with or without food
Dosage & Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days, extendable to 14 days
- Adult dosage range: 200-400 mg daily
- Children dosage: 8 mg/kg/day
- Special typhoid dose: 5 mg/kg body weight twice daily for 10-14 days
- Caution in severe renal impairment
- Dosage adjustment for patients on peritoneal dialysis or haemodialysis
