Indications
- Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI)
- Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of urinary tract infections
Pharmacology
- Orally active cephalosporin antibiotic
- Bactericidal against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
- Interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Recommended adult dosage is 200-400 mg daily
- Dosage adjustments in elderly and children based on severity of infection
- Dosage adjustments in renal impairment
Interaction
- Potential interaction with anticoagulant therapy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
