Indications

  • Treatment of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI)
  • Treatment of Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
  • Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections

Pharmacology

  • Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria

Dosage & Administration

  • Usual course of treatment is 7 days
  • Adult dosage is 200-400 mg daily
  • Dosage for children based on age and weight

Interaction

  • Potential increase in prothrombin times with anticoagulant therapy

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

Side Effects

  • Mild and self-limiting adverse reactions
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., diarrhea, nausea)
  • Central nervous system effects (e.g., headache)
