Description

Truso DS is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and other acute infections.

Indication

  • Upper Respiratory Tract Infections
  • Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Stable in the presence of beta-lactamase enzymes

Pharmacology

Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

Dosage administration

  • Usual course of treatment is 7 days
  • Adult dosage 200-400 mg daily
  • Pediatric dosage based on age and body weight
  • Absorption not significantly modified by the presence of food

Interaction

  • Possible increases in prothrombin times in some patients receiving anticoagulant therapy

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
