Zemicef is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic
Bactericidal activity against a wide variety of bacteria
Recommended for upper respiratory tract infections
Recommended for urinary tract infections
Highly stable in the presence of beta-lactamase enzymes
Absorption of Cefixime is about 40% to 50% with or without food
Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
Adult dosage is 200-400 mg daily according to the severity of the infection

Recommendations for dosage in renal impairment
Increases in prothrombin times noted in some patients
