Dosage Instructions for Adult
- Pharyngitis/tonsillitis: 100mg 12 hourly, 5 to 10 days
- Acute maxillary sinusitis: 200mg 12 hourly, 10 days
- Community-acquired pneumonia: 200mg 12 hourly, 14 days
- Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis: 200mg 12 hourly, 10 days
- Skin and skin structure: 400mg 12 hourly, 7 to 14 days
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infection: 100mg 12 hourly, 7 days
- Uncomplicated gonorrhea: single dose of 200mg
- Rectal gonococcal infections in women: single dose of 200mg
Dosage Instructions for Infants and Pediatric Patients
- Acute otitis media: 5mg/kg body weight 12 hourly, 5 days
- Pharyngitis/tonsillitis: 5mg/kg body weight 12 hourly, 5 to 10 days
- Acute maxillary sinusitis: 5mg/kg body weight 12 hourly, 10 days
Renal Impairment
- Dosing intervals should be increased to 24 hourly for severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30ml/min)
Liver Cirrhosis
- Dose adjustment not necessary
Interactions
- High doses of antacids and H 2 blockers reduce peak plasma level and extent of absorption
- Probenecid inhibits renal excretion, resulting in approximately 31% increase in AUC
- Close monitoring of renal function advised when administered with compounds of known nephrotoxic potential

Reconstitution
- Addition of boiled water to dry mixture in the bottle
- Shake well after each addition
- Reconstituted suspension to be stored in cool and dry place, preferably in refrigerator
