Indications
- Treatment of acute otitis media

Pharmacology
- Oral 3rd generation cephalosporin
- Good stability to beta lactamases
- Activity against Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria
- Prodrug with active metabolite Cefpodoxime
- Approximately 29 to 33% excreted unchanged in urine in 12 hours
Dosage & Administration
- Dosing for adults and adolescents
- Dosing for infants and pediatric patients
- Dosing adjustments for patients with renal dysfunction
- No dose adjustment necessary for patients with liver cirrhosis
Interaction
- Concomitant administration with antacids
- Concomitant administration with H 2 blockers
- Inhibition of renal excretion by probenecid
- Close monitoring with nephrotoxic drugs

- Known allergy to Cefpodoxime or cephalosporin antibiotics
