Pharmacology

Dihydropyridine calcium antagonist
Reduction in peripheral vascular resistance
Reduction in blood pressure
Peripheral vasodilator
Beta-blocker
Reduction in blood pressure
Reduction in cardiac output
Reduction in plasma renin activity
Reduction in sympathetic outflow
Reduction in myocardial oxygen demand

Dosage & Administration

Recommended dosage of 5/25 mg tablet once daily
Dosage may be increased to 5/25 mg two tablets daily
Dosage should be individualized

Interaction

Disopyramide clearance reduction
Additive negative inotropic effects with disopyramide
Reduced Atenolol levels with Ampicillin
Beta-blockers may decrease tissue sensitivity to insulin
Inhibit insulin secretion

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to components
Sinus bradycardia
Second and higher degrees of heart block
Cardiogenic shock
Hypotension
Congestive heart failure
Poor left ventricular function
