Indications

Pharmacology
- Fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine and Atenolol
- Dihydropyridine calcium antagonist
- Peripheral vasodilator
- Beta-blocker
- Reduces coronary vasoreactivity
- Lowers cardiac demand
- Reduction in blood pressure
- Reduction in myocardial oxygen demand
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosage of Amlodipine and Atenolol 5/25 mg tablet once daily
- Dosage can be increased to 5/25 mg two tablets daily
- Dosage should be individualized
Interaction
- Disopyramide: reduces clearance and may produce negative inotropic effects
- Ampicillin: may reduce Atenolol levels
- Oral antidiabetics and insulin: may decrease tissue sensitivity to insulin and inhibit insulin secretion
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to either component
- Sinus bradycardia
- Second and higher degrees of heart block
- Cardiogenic shock
- Hypotension
- Congestive heart failure
- Poor left ventricular function

- Nausea
- Drowsiness
- Anxiety
- Depression
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy only if benefit outweighs potential fetal risk
- Not recommended for nursing mothers
- Breast-feeding should be stopped if use is considered necessary
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with airway obstruction
- Caution in patients with renal impairment
- Caution in patients with severe liver damage
- Warn against sudden discontinuation
- Discontinuation should be gradual and under observation
Overdose Effects
- Hypotension
- Congestive cardiac failure
- Unabsorbed drugs can be removed by gastric lavage or activated charcoal
- Symptomatic treatment suggested
