Indications

Pharmacology
- Potent bactericidal activity
- Interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Broad-spectrum against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms

Dosage
- Usual adult dose of 1 to 2 gm once a day
- Maximum adult dose of 4 gm/day
- Infant and children dose of 50 to 75 mg/kg once a day
- Maximum infant and children dose of 2 gm/day
- Duration of therapy of 4 to 14 days
Administration
- Intramuscular or intravenous injection
- Preparation of solutions for injections
- Administered over 2-4 minutes
