Indications

Contraindications

- Overgrowth of non-susceptible microorganisms possible with prolonged use
- Association with fall in prothrombin activity
- Caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease
- Potential alteration of glucose metabolism and serum potassium with arginine
Use in Special Populations
- Maximum pediatric dose not to exceed recommended adult dose
- Serious adverse events in geriatric patients with renal insufficiency
- No adjustment for patients with impaired hepatic function
- Dose adjustment in patients with impaired renal function
Overdose Effects
- Observation and supportive treatment for overdose
- Recommendation for hemodialysis in the presence of renal insufficiency
- Symptoms of overdose include encephalopathy, seizures, and neuromuscular excitability
