Description
- Indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pneumonia
- Treatment of febrile neutropenia
- Treatment of uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections
- Treatment of uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
- Used in combination for complicated intra-abdominal infections
- Bactericidal with the same mode of action as other beta-lactam antibiotics
- Intravenous administration over approximately 30 minutes
- Adverse interaction with high doses of aminoglycosides
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins, penicillin, or betalactum antibiotics
- Pregnancy Category B with excretion in breast milk
- Precautions in prescribing without a proven bacterial infection
- May result in overgrowth of non-susceptible microorganisms
- Associated with a fall in prothrombin activity and caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease
