Pharmacology
- Combination of Imipenem and Cilastatin
- Bactericidal activity from inhibition of cell wall synthesis
- High stability in the presence of beta-lactamases
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage based on suspected or confirmed pathogen susceptibility
- Recommended dosage regimens for adult patients with normal renal function
- Reduction in dose for patients with lower creatinine clearance
- Reconstitution with appropriate diluent and infusion solution before administering intravenously
Interaction
- Concurrent administration with probenecid may increase cilastatin half-life
- Increased risk of seizures when used concurrently with ganciclovir
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of this combination
