Description

  • Indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by single or multiple bacteria sensitive to Ronem
  • Carbapenem antibiotic for parenteral use
  • Exerts bactericidal action by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis
  • Penetrates bacterial cell walls with high stability to all serine beta-lactamases
  • Shows potent bactericidal activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Recommended dosage for adults and children based on type and severity of infection
  • Administration by intravenous infusion over approximately 15-30 minutes or as intravenous bolus
  • Competes with Probenecid for active tubular secretion
  • Contraindicated in patients with demonstrated hypersensitivity to this product
  • Generally well tolerated with possible side effects like inflammation, thrombophlebitis, pain at injection site, skin reactions, rash, pruritus, urticaria, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache
  • Pregnancy Category B with caution advised when administered to nursing women
  • Discontinue if allergic reaction occurs and use with careful monitoring in patients with hepatic disease
  • Dosage adjustments in patients with renal impairment
  • No dosage adjustments necessary in elderly patients unless creatinine clearance is <51 ml/min
  • Efficacy and tolerability in infants under 3 months not established
  • Symptomatic treatment for overdose with haemodialysis in subjects with renal impairment
