Indications
- Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
- Treatment of trachoma
- Prevention of neonatal conjunctivitis
Pharmacology
- Bacteriostatic action by reversibly binding to the 30S subunits of the ribosome
- Broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity
Dosage & Administration
- Apply tetracycline 1% into the conjunctival sac of both eyes
- Dosage varies based on condition
- Washing eyes with boiled and cooled water before each application
Interaction
- Impaired absorption with antacids containing certain minerals
- May interfere with the bactericidal action of penicillin
- May potentiate the effect of anticoagulants

- Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
