Description
Bacteriostatic broad-spectrum antibiotic with wide activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, parasites, and bacteria protein synthesis inhibition
Pharmacology
Inhibits cell growth by binding to 30S ribosomal subunit, reversible binding, lipophilic, and can pass through cell membrane
Dosage & Administration
Adult dosage 250-500 mg every 6 hours, should be taken one hour before or two hours after meals
Interaction
Interacts with antacids, depresses plasma prothrombin activity, may reduce doses of concomitant anticoagulants
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Tetracyclines, not for use in children under 12 years, contraindicated in pregnant women
