Dosage
- Usual dose: 200 mg on first day, then 100 mg daily for 7-10 days
- Severe infections dose: 200 mg daily for 10 days
- Acne dose: 100 mg daily
- Uncomplicated genital chlamydia, non-gonococcal urethritis dose: 100 mg twice daily for 7-21 days
- Administration with plenty of fluid during meals while sitting or standing

Administration

Interaction
- Impairment of absorption by antacids and iron-containing preparations
- Impairment of absorption by bismuth salicylate
- Decrease in half-life by barbiturates, carbamazepine, and phenytoin
- Rendering of oral contraceptive less effective by concurrent use of tetracyclines
- Required downward adjustment of anticoagulant dosages in anticoagulant therapy
- Advice to avoid giving tetracyclines in conjunction with penicillin

- Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
