Pharmacology
Aminoglycoside antibiotic. Bactericidal against Gram-positive & Gram-negative pathogens. Interferes with protein synthesis of bacterial cell.
Dosage & Administration
Apply 3 times daily. Wash area with soap and water before application. Remove crusts for maximum contact with infecting organisms.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Gentamicin, pregnancy, myasthenia gravis.
Side Effects
Itching, redness, swelling, or other signs of irritation.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category D. Gentamicin detected in breast milk. Discontinue breastfeeding during treatment.
Precautions & Warnings
Not to be applied to patients hypersensitive to Gentamicin.
