Description

  • Belongs to the macrolides group of antibiotics
  • Exerts bacteriostatic or bactericidal action
  • Interference with ribosomal protein synthesis
  • Mainly used for penicillinase producing staphylococcal infections

Pharmacology

  • Inhibition of microsomal protein synthesis
  • Specific binding to 50S subunit or 70S ribosome
  • Active against Grampositive and some Gram-negative bacteria
  • Absorption and blood concentration
  • Distribution throughout body tissue and fluids
  • Excretion in urine and bile

Dosage & Administration

  • Dosage for adults and children over 8 years
