Belongs to the macrolides group of antibiotics

Pharmacology

Bacteriostatic or bactericidal action
Inhibits microsomal protein synthesis
Active against Gram-positive bacteria
Active against some Gram-negative bacteria
Crosses placenta and excreted in the milk

Dosage for adults and children over 8 years
Dosage for elderly

Interaction

May increase serum theophylline levels
