Description
- Belongs to the macrolides group of antibiotics
- Exerts bacteriostatic or bactericidal action
- Used for the treatment of infections caused by penicillinase producing staphylococci
- Particularly susceptible to certain micro-organisms
Pharmacology
- Inhibits microsomal protein synthesis in susceptible organisms
- Active against Gram-positive bacteria, some Gram-negative bacteria, mycoplasmas, and chlamydia

Interaction
- May increase serum theophylline levels and potential theophylline toxicity
