Indications
- Lower respiratory tract infections treatment

Pharmacology
- Oral administration
- Time to peak concentration: 2.1 to 3.2 hours
- Absorbed easily on an empty stomach
- High concentration in phagocytes
- Active transport to site of infection
- Half-life of 68 hours
Dosage
- Adult oral dosage: 500 mg once daily for 3 days
- Adult IV dosage: 500 mg as a single daily dose for at least two days
- Pediatric dosage based on body weight
Administration
- Reconstitution procedure for suspension
- Should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal
Interaction
- Interactions with antacids, carbamazepine, cyclosporin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, methylprednisolone, theophylline, warfarin, terfenadine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or macrolide antibiotics
- Co-administration with ergot derivatives
- Hepatic diseases
