Indications

Pharmacology
- Orally administrable
- Quick absorption
- High concentration in phagocytes
- Extended tissue half-life
- Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
Dosage
- Adult oral dosage: 500mg once daily for 3 days
- Pediatric oral dosage: 10mg/kg body weight once daily for 3 days
- IV infusion dosage: 500mg as a single daily dose
Administration
- Reconstitution procedure for suspension
- Timing in relation to meals
Interaction
- Interactions with antacids, carbamazepine, cyclosporin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, methylprednisolone, theophylline, warfarin, terfenadine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or macrolide antibiotic
- Co-administration with ergot derivatives
- Hepatic diseases
