Description
- Azilab is a pharmaceutical product indicated for various infections caused by susceptible organisms in lower respiratory tract, upper respiratory tract, otitis media, skin and soft tissue, as well as in sexually transmitted diseases.
Dosage
- Oral adult dosage: 500 mg once daily orally for 3 days or 500 mg once on day 1, then 250 mg once daily for the next 4 days. Children's dosage varies based on body weight and specific conditions.
Administration
- Azithromycin suspension reconstitution procedure: shake the bottle well, add boiled and cooled water up to the water mark of the bottle label, shake until powder is completely mixed with water.
Mode of Action
- Azithromycin acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms and interfering with microbial protein synthesis. It is readily absorbed and actively transported to the site of infection due to high concentration in phagocytes.
Interaction
- Azithromycin interaction with antacids, carbamazepine, cyclosporin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, methylprednisolone, theophylline, warfarin, and terfenadine.
Contraindications
