Indications

Pharmacology
- Oral administration
- Rapid absorption
- Higher absorption on an empty stomach
- Time to peak concentration: 2.1 to 3.2 hours
- High concentration in phagocytes
- Large concentrations released during active phagocytosis
- Over 50 times higher concentration in tissues than in plasma
- Half-life: 68 hours
- Biliary excretion as a major route of elimination
- Microbial protein synthesis interference
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 500 mg once daily orally for 3 days
- Adult sexually transmitted diseases dosage: 1 gm as a single dose
- Pediatric dosage: 10 mg/kg body weight once daily for 3 days
Administration
- Reconstitution procedure for suspension
- Should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal
