- Oral administration
- Absorption on empty stomach
- Time to peak concentration

- Active transport to site of infection

- Microbial protein synthesis interference
- Active against gram-positive microorganisms

Dosage
- 500 mg once daily orally for adults
- 500 mg once on day 1, then 250 mg once on days 2-5 for adults
- 1 gm single dose for Chlamydia trachomatis in adults
- 500 mg once on day 1, followed by 250 mg once daily for next 2 days for Chlamydia trachomatis in adults
- 10 mg/kg body weight once daily for children over 6 months
- 200 mg for 3 days for children 15-25 kg body weight
- 300 mg for 3 days for children 26-35 kg body weight
- 400 mg for 3 days for children 36-45 kg body weight
- 500 mg once daily for 7-10 days in typhoid fever
Administration
- Reconstitution of suspension
- Shaking the bottle well
- Adding boiled and cooled water
- Shaking until powder is completely mixed with water
- Taking at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meal
