Description

  • Indicated for infections in lower respiratory tract, upper respiratory tract, otitis media, and skin and soft tissue infections
  • Pharmacology includes absorption, peak concentration, transport to site of infection, active phagocytosis, tissue concentration, half-life, clearance, biliary excretion
  • Acts by binding to 50S ribosomal subunit, interfering with microbial protein synthesis
  • Dosage for adults and children, including oral and intravenous
  • Reconstitution procedure for suspension, timing of administration in relation to meals
  • Interactions with antacids, carbamazepine, cyclosporin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, methylprednisolone, theophylline, warfarin, terfenadine
