Pharmacology

Dosage

  • 500 mg once daily orally for adults
  • 10 mg/kg body weight once daily for children
  • 500 mg as a single daily dose for IV infusion

Administration

  • Oral intake at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meal
  • Suspension reconstitution procedure

Interaction

  • Antacid intake timing
  • Potential interactions with carbamazepine, cyclosporin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, methylprednisolone, theophylline, warfarin, and terfenadine

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or macrolide antibiotics
