Description
Clindamet is a lincosamide antibiotic used in the treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.
Indications
- Upper respiratory infections
- Lower respiratory infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Pelvic infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Septicemia
- Endocarditis
- Dental infections
- Treatment of multi-drug resistant Plasmodium falciporum infection
DosageAdministration
- Clindamycin Capsule:
- 150 mg-300 mg every six hours for serious infections
- 300 mg-450 mg every six hours for more severe infections
- Clindamycin Powder for oral solution:
- 8-12 mg/kg/day divided into 3 or 4 equal doses for serious infections
- 13-16 mg/kg/day divided into 3 or 4 equal doses for severe infections
- 17-25 mg/kg/day divided into 3 or 4 equal doses for more severe infections
- Clindamycin IV/IM Injection: Dose varies based on infection severity and patient age
Interaction
Enhances the action of neuromuscular blocking agents
Contraindications
Patients previously found to be sensitive to clindamycin or any of the ingredients
