Description
- Lincosamide antibiotic
- Derived from lincomycin
- Effective against aerobic gram-positive cocci
- Effective against anaerobic gram-negative bacilli
- Effective against anaerobic gram-positive non-spore forming bacilli
- Effective against anaerobic and microaerophilic gram-positive cocci
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for serious infections: 150 mg-300 mg every six hours
- Dosage for more severe infections: 300 mg-450 mg every six hours
- Dosage for pediatric patients weighing 10 kg or less: 1/2 teaspoon (37.5 mg) three times a day
- Dosage for neonates (less than 1 month): 15 to 20 mg/kg/day
- Dosage for pediatric patients (1 month of age to 16 years): 20 to 40 mg/kg/day
Interaction
- Enhances the action of other neuromuscular blocking agents
- Antagonism with erythromycin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients sensitive to clindamycin or any of the ingredients

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category B
- Crosses the placenta
- Appears in breast milk
- Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Not recommended for nursing mothers if not clearly needed

- Prescribed with caution in individuals with history of gastrointestinal disease
- Appropriate monitoring of organ system functions in newborns and infants

Overdose Effects
- Rare overdosage with orally administered Lindamax
- Haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis not effective in removing Lindamax from serum
- No specific antidote known
