Description
- Lincosamide antibiotic
- Derived from lincomycin
- Effective against aerobic gram-positive cocci
- Effective against anaerobic gram-negative bacilli
- Effective against anaerobic gram-positive non-spore forming bacilli
- Effective against anaerobic and microaerophilic gram-positive cocci
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for serious infections: 150 mg-300 mg every six hours
- Dosage for more severe infections: 300 mg-450 mg every six hours
- Dosage for pediatric patients weighing 10 kg or less: 1/2 teaspoon (37.5 mg) three times a day
- Dosage of Clindamycin IV/IM Injection for adults: 600-1200 mg/day in 2-4 equal doses
- Dosage of Clindamycin IV/IM Injection for neonates (less than 1 month): 15 to 20 mg/kg/day in 3 to 4 equal doses
Interaction
- Enhances the action of other neuromuscular blocking agents
- Antagonism with erythromycin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients sensitive to clindamycin

- Urticaria
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B
- Crosses the placenta
- Not recommended for nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Prescribed with caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis
Use in Special Populations
- Appropriate monitoring of organ system functions in newborns and infants
- No dose adjustment for geriatric use
Overdose Effects
- Rare with orally administered Anobac
- Unexpected reactions could occur
- Haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are not effective in removing Anobac
- Treat with simple gastric lavage
