Optichlor 0.5% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Treatment of ocular infections
• Infections of conjunctiva and/or cornea
• Susceptible organisms
• Specific organisms (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, E.coli, etc.)

Pharmacology

• Broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic
• Inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis
• Interference with transfer of activated amino acids

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 or 2 drops in conjunctival sac
• Frequency of administration (4-6 times per day for first 72 hours, then every 4 hours)
• Treatment duration (approximately 7 days)
• Re-evaluation by physician after 3 weeks

Interaction

• Inhibition of chymotrypsin

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Chloramphenicol or any ingredients
