Indications
- Treatment of ocular infections
- Involving the conjunctiva and/or cornea
- Caused by Nicol-susceptible organisms
- Infections caused by specific bacteria
Pharmacology
- Broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic
- Inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis
- Interference with transfer of activated amino acids
Dosage & Administration
- Adult and Children dosage
- Instill 1 or 2 drops in the conjunctival sac 4-6 times per day
- Initial treatment duration of 72 hours
- Continued treatment for approximately 7 days
- Physician re-evaluation after 3 weeks
Interaction
- Inhibition of Chymotrypsin
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Chloramphenicol or any ingredients

- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Blood dyscrasia
- Allergic or inflammatory reactions
- Vesicular and maculopapular dermatitis
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safety not established for use during pregnancy
