Indications
- Treatment of skin infections caused by Staphylococci, Streptococci, and other Fusidate sensitive organisms
- Impetigo
- Boils
- Abscess
- Varicose ulcers
- Skin grafts
- Hidradenitis
- Infected wounds
- Sycosis barbae
- Paronychia
- Folliculitis
- Carbuncles
- Erythrasma
Pharmacology
- Antibiotic derived from Fusidium coccineum
- Powerful activity against gram-positive organisms
- Particularly susceptible to Staphylococci
- Inhibitor of protein synthesis
- Interferes with the translocation step
Dosage & Administration
- Applied 2 to 3 times daily
- Generally used for a period of 7 days
- Can be used with or without a covering dressing
- Caution near the eye region
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Sodium Fusidate
- Severe hepatic failure

- Extremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reactions
