Indications
- Nosocomial pneumonia
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Complicated skin and skin structure infection including diabetic foot infections, without concomitant osteomyelitis
- Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
- Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections
Pharmacology
- Synthetic antibacterial agent
- Oxazolidinones class of antibiotics
- In vitro activity against Gram positive aerobic bacteria
- Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis
- Bacteriostatic against enterococci and staphylococci
Dosage & Administration
- Infection:
- Nosocomial pneumonia
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Complicated skin and skin structure infections
- Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
- Dosage, route, and frequency:
- Pediatric patients: 10 mg/kg orally or intravenously every 8 hours
- Adults and adolescent: 600 mg orally or intravenously every 12 hours
- Recommended duration of treatment (consecutive days): 10 to 14
- Intravenous administration: 30 to 120 minutes
- Hepatic impairment: No dose adjustment for mild-to-moderate impairment
Interaction
- Drug interaction with medication: Reversible, nonselective inhibitor of monoamine oxidase
- Drug interaction with food and others: Avoid large quantities of foods or beverages with high tyramine content
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Linezolid or any of the other product components
- Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors or within two weeks of such use
- Uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, thyrotoxicosis

Precautions & Warnings
- Monitor complete blood counts weekly
- Prompt ophthalmic evaluation for symptoms of visual impairment
- Avoid treatment for catheter-related bloodstream infections
- Monitor for potential increases in blood pressure
- Immediate medical evaluation for certain symptoms
